Privacy notice
Starbital is a local-first astronomy tool. Location, sensor, and telescope information stays on your device unless you deliberately send it to us through the feedback form.
What the feedback form collects
When you use the feedback form or the Finder accuracy prompt we store the category, your message, and — only if you provide one — a contact email. We also attach a small amount of coarse context described below.
Context we attach
Each feedback record may include: the same-site pathname you were on (query strings and fragments removed), the target you were looking for (only if it matches one of our shipped ids), the calibration state, and a coarse browser, OS, and device-class family. We do not store exact latitude or longitude, raw compass or motion samples, camera frames, cookies, session identifiers, or your full User-Agent string.
Contact email
Contact email is optional. If you leave it blank we simply do not store one. We only use it to reply about the feedback you sent.
Where the data lives
Feedback is written to a private Vercel Blob store that only the Starbital team can read. Vercel provides the hosting and storage infrastructure. As with any hosting provider, Vercel's platform layer may process ordinary technical logs (for example request timing and response codes) — that processing is outside the Starbital application.
How long we keep it
Feedback records are kept for up to 12 months so we can revisit patterns across a release cycle. If you ask for earlier deletion we will remove your record.
Deletion and privacy requests
Send a message through the feedback form with category "Privacy or data request" and include the reference id shown after submission. That id is the fastest way for us to locate the exact record.
Changes
As Starbital leaves beta we will update this notice. Material changes will be reflected in the last-updated date at the bottom of this page.
