Accuracy and safety
Please read these caveats before relying on Starbital for observing decisions.
Positions and predictions are approximate
Sky positions, rise and set times, meteor-shower peaks, and other event predictions are computed from published models and shipped data. They are approximate — real conditions can differ by minutes or more depending on your location and horizon.
Mobile sensors have limits
The Finder relies on your phone's orientation, motion, and magnetometer. Sensor readings can be affected by miscalibration, nearby magnets, metal, and hardware quality. Recalibrate if the pointer looks off.
Finder is not a navigation aid
Starbital's Finder is meant for looking up at the sky in a safe, stationary spot. It is not a navigation, driving, or safety-critical tool. Stay aware of your surroundings and do not use Finder while walking in traffic or operating a vehicle.
Never observe the Sun without proper filters
The Sun can cause permanent eye damage in seconds. Never point a telescope, binoculars, or your own eyes at the Sun without certified solar-viewing equipment appropriate for the instrument.
